Carjacking Thwarted Outside Home of Supreme Court Justice Sonia Sotomayor

How stupid do you have to be to try to steal a car near the home of a prominent politician or Supreme Court justice?

That is the question being asked today after a teenager tried to carjack a car that was part of Justice Sotomayor’s security detail.

The car that was approached by the suspect had a Deputy U.S. Marshal inside, and needless to say, this did not end well for the suspect.

Wrong Car

Kentrell Flowers, 18, reportedly approached the vehicle and stuck a handgun in the Marshal’s face.

The Marshal was positioned outside the home of Justice Sotomayor.

The DC Metropolitan Police stated, “The suspect exited a vehicle, approached one of the Marshals, and pointed a handgun at him in an apparent attempt to carjack him.

“The Marshal drew his service weapon and fired several shots at the suspect. A second Marshal from another vehicle also responded and fired his service weapon.

“The suspect was transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries. No law enforcement officers were injured.”

The Metro PD also divulged the name of the officer, which drew a bit of a rebuke by the Marshal’s service.

The U.S. Marshal’s Service added, “The Deputy U.S. Marshals involved in the shooting incident were part of the unit protecting the residences of U.S. Supreme Court justices.

“As a general practice, the U.S. Marshals don't discuss specifics of protective details.

“USMS does not disclose the names of personnel involved in shooting incidents until all investigations are complete.”

Court documents also outline more details of the shooting, stating, “The Complainant pulled out his department-issued firearm and fired approximately four times at Defendant Flowers through the window, striking Flowers in the mouth.

“The Complainant provided first aid to Flowers, while the silver van fled the scene traveling northbound on 11th Street Northwest.”

I am curious to see how Democrats latch on to this story and if they try to blame this random crime on Donald Trump’s rhetoric or if they just allow this one to pass through the news cycle unscathed.
