Caravan Getting Escort from Mexican National Guard

So much for Mexico doing its part to curb the immigration problem at our southern border.

Breitbart is now reporting that a massive caravan of immigrants headed to the border is doing so under the protection of the Mexican National Guard.

According to the report, most of the caravan is from Venezuela, but there are also migrants from Africa and Haiti that have joined the group.

Here They Come

Prior to departing for our border, the migrants were being held at the Viva Mexico camp in Tapachula. The migrants are now claiming the camp is unsanitary, so they departed.

Once the group left the camp, members of the Mexican National Guard were sent to go with them, with the role of diverting traffic as well as offering first aid when needed.

Mexico was supposed to be helping to slow the flow, not actually offering escort services to groups that want to come to our country illegally.

This is all going down as Governor Greg Abbott has been taking extra measures to block immigrants from coming over the border illegally.

In addition to measures that were already in place, Abbott is now using floating barriers in the Rio Grande to deter migrants from crossing over.

While Abbott is doing everything in his power to stop illegal immigration, the Biden administration is going to sue Texas to remove the barriers.

Todd Kim, an assistant attorney general, and Jaime Esparza, the U.S. attorney for the Western District of Texas, penned a letter to Abbott to inform him of the pending action.

In part, the letter stated, "Texas's unauthorized construction of the floating barrier is a prima facie violation of the Rivers and Harbors Act. This floating barrier poses a risk to navigation, as well as public safety, in the Rio Grande River, and it presents humanitarian concerns," reported CBS News.

The letter concluded, "If we do not receive a response by 2:00 P.M. Eastern Time on July 24, 2023, indicating your commitment to expeditiously remove the floating barrier and related structures, the United States intends to file legal action."

Abbott basically told them to go pound sand, responding, "We will continue to deploy every strategy to protect Texans and Americans — and the migrants risking their lives. We will see you in court, Mr. President."

Let's just say it is very unlikely that Abbott will back down from this fight. If Joe wants those barriers down, he is going to have to do it himself.
