Capitol Police Announce Arrest in Mace Assault Case
On Tuesday, it was reported that Rep. Nancy Mace (R-S.C.) had been assaulted.
According to the report, the man assaulted Mace at the Rayburn House Office Building.
The alleged attacker, James McIntyre, had passed through security and was in the building legally.
Handshake or Abuse
There are always going to be two versions, so let’s get started.
According to Mace, McIntyre hurt her hand and wrist during an altercation.
After the incident, she stated, “I was physically accosted at the Capitol tonight by a pro-tr*ns man. One new brace for my wrist and some ice for my arm and it’ll heal just fine.
“The Capitol police arrested the guy.
“Your tr*ns violence and threats on my life will only make me double down. FAFO.”
The Capitol Police appear to be backing up Mace, having stated, "Just before 6:00 p.m., the Member of Congress' office reported an incident in the Rayburn House Office Building. House Division officers, and agents with the Threat Assessment Section, tracked down the suspect."
The statement continued, "After an investigative interview, officers arrested the suspect, 33-year-old James McIntyre of Illinois. McIntyre is facing a charge for Assaulting a Government Official.”
Several witnesses have accused Mace of being a drama queen, stating that McIntrye merely shook her hand as anyone would expect at a meet and greet while asking Mace questions about trans rights.
Foster youth advocate Elliott Hinkle stated that the interaction was "a normal handshake and interaction that I would expect any legislator to expect from anyone as a constituent."
Someone else had posted about the incident on Facebook, but that started to become whisper down the lane, and about halfway down the page, the post had deteriorated into Mace having a trans youth arrested, so don’t expect much truth on this.
To me, it sounds, like McIntyre decided to try to intimidate Mace with a hard handshake and went too far in the process.
The fact the police arrested him tells me they are thinking along the same lines.
