Bush, Clinton, Obama set to skip Trump's inaugural lunch
If you were looking to see as many important people as possible attend Donald Trump's inauguration lunch, you're going to be disappointed by more than a few people.
According to Gazette.com, "Former Presidents George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama won't take part in President-elect Donald Trump's inaugural luncheon on Monday."
One of Bush's staffers did confirm that Bush would be at the inauguration earlier in the day but dismissed the importance of the later lunch.
A report from NBC News indicates that Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama have declined to attend the inaugural lunch despite receiving invitations.
Bill Clinton, Hillary Clinton, and Barack Obama will at least be at Donald Trump's swearing-in ceremony. However, Barack Obama's wife, Michelle, will not.
Michelle Obama's public relations team has had to be working overtime lately, this is the second high-profile event she's skipped in a short period.
Despite Jimmy Carter's far-left policies paving the way for future radical liberals like Barack Obama, Michelle did not see it necessary to pay her respects to President Carter at his funeral. Instead, she was vacationing in Hawaii.
Several other high-profile Democrats, such as Nancy Pelosi, have announced that they will skip inauguration festivities as well.
The Washington Examiner did reach out to the offices of the Obamas and the Clintons but did not receive a statement in return.
Typically, the living former presidents and their spouses are expected to attend the festivities around the inauguration, including the luncheon.
This isn't the only adversity that Donald Trump is dealing with on Inauguration Day.
His event is being forced to change venues to an indoor location because of bitter cold, which will result in many ticketed guests not being able to attend.
Trump announced the change on Jan. 17:
"There is an Arctic blast sweeping the Country. I don’t want to see people hurt, or injured in any way," Trump posted on social media.
