Well, well, well… Donald Trump just got another major ally in his corner and quite frankly, I am just a bit shocked at this one.
During her most recent podcast, Megyn Kelly dished about a recent meeting she had with former President Donald Trump, reported the Daily Caller.
She was literally gushing over him during the podcast, something that I never thought I would see from her again.
Megyn’s Back
Kelly and Trump had a huge falling out when she was at Fox News during the 2016 debate season over comments made by Trump about Kelly directly.
Kelly immediately became a villain to most Trump supporters and some would say that conflict is what led to her ultimate departure from Fox News.
Now established as an independent journalist, Kelly is doing just fine, so she really does not need to be Trump’s ally for success, which is why I believe she is so genuine in the comments she made about Trump.
Having met Trump, albeit VERY briefly, and lived in the tri-state area where he conducted business, I have always stated that there are two different Trumps that everyone sees.
There is the private Trump, who those that have met him adore, and there is the Trump that has called women, to quote a Megyn Kelly debate question, “fat pigs, dogs, slobs, and disgusting animals.”
Trump, good or bad, says things for the cameras to get a reaction, and that was pretty much her take, but she did drop a bit of a breaking story in the process.
On her meeting with Trump, Kelly stated, “He and I got a one-on-one together for the first time in years and it was frankly great to see him.
“You know, all that nonsense between us is under the bridge and he could not have been more magnanimous, you know. It’s just the thing about Trump is, he commands the room, he walks in and it’s not just because he’s a former president now because I knew him before that, he, there’s just something about him. It’s like an aura that sort of takes over the room, there’s only one person you can look at.”
On if Trump will attend the debates, Kelly added, “I wouldn’t bet on it, I would not bet on him attending, at least that first Fox News debate. If I had to put money on it, you know, it’s Trump so he could change his mind but that was my feeling.”
I have always genuinely liked Kelly and I did my best not to dump on her when she and Trump had their falling out.
I think she is a brilliant journalist when she is neck-deep in a story, so I would not discount the fact that she and Trump are on good terms again.
To repeat myself from above… she does not need to buddy up to Trump for success, so this is genuine, and that being the case, Kelly could play a major role in softening up some voters that otherwise would not pull the handle for Trump.
