Brazilian President Lula Reportedly Recovering After Successful Surgery
It would appear that the United States is not the only country with a president who is in questionable health.
Brazilian President Luiz Inacio Lula da Silva was reportedly rushed to a Sao Paulo hospital.
The report stated that the president was suffering brain issues linked to a fall he took about two months ago.
Bad Fall
Lula, 79, reportedly took a nasty fall in October.
Oddly enough, I just discussed how devasting falls could be for the elderly in a report on Senator McConnell (R-KY), who just fell again and was injured.
Lula was reportedly suffering a brain bleed from that fall, requiring him to be rushed to the hospital for an emergency surgery.
At last report, he was recovering from the surgery in the intensive care unit of the Sirio-Libanes Hospital.
Doctors stated that the bleeding was between his brain and the meningeal membrane.
The surgery was surprisingly short, only about two hours, and he will be required to remain in the ICU for about 48 hours before he can be moved again.
In recent months, Lula has been complaining of pains related to the October fall.
More recently, he was specifically complaining of bad headaches, which is when he was taken to the hospital for testing.
The testing revealed that he had an intracranial hemorrhage, which is when he was transferred to the Sao Paulo hospital for emergency surgery.
Lula is now serving his third term, and health concerns have been front and center with Lula on the cusp of being on octogenarian.
The concern for his party is who will take his place, as there have been no real frontrunners within his party to step up to take the lead.
Lula’s current term will end in 2026, so there is still time.
