How can it possibly be? How can you have a border that is raging with human and drug trafficking, and the current Oval Office occupant not ask for a briefing on what is happening?
According to Northern Command Commander Gen. Glen VanHerck, that is the current situation.
Breitbart News reports that when asked directly, General VanHerck was unaware of any requests for briefings regarding the situation at the border by the White House.
Stunning Admission
As the Northern Commander, General VanHerck’s primary duty is monitoring and protecting the U.S. against threats.
House Armed Services Military Personnel Subcommittee Chairman Jim Banks (R-IN) asked him directly if Biden had expressed any interest at all in the southern border. Had he ever directly asked for a briefing on the matter?
The General replied, “Not that I’m aware of.”
When asked if was surprised by this, VanHerck went full politician and defended Biden by saying that he knows he works closely with the Secretary, so he was not particularly surprised.
Then Banks contrasted the two presidencies stating that when Trump was in office, he actually traveled to the command himself to get a briefing.
Banks stated, “That’s the type of leadership that he provided in this country. The opposite of what we’re seeing coming from President Biden.”
Now, to be clear, VanHerck is there to provide support, not take any direct action. Having said that, his command plays a vital role in exposing the holes, so to speak, where immigrants and drugs are crossing.
As Banks noted in his questioning, however, Biden could use special authority to enable the military to take more of a role to deter drug trafficking over the border.
Banks concluded, “It’s just it’s absolutely it’s shameful. And I’m going to continue to do whatever I can to make sure that we get a president in the White House who pay – was paying attention to the southern border.”
Indeed it is, sir, it is.
