Bill Clinton Breaks Down How Democrats Lost the 2024 Election
Democrats are trying to figure out what happened to them in 2024, but most of them refuse to truly look inward.
Bill Clinton appears to have one foot in reality and the other in fantasyland, but his reality breakdown is fairly accurate.
Having said that, Clinton still seems a bit stuck in the past and is not completely buying in that Dems, more particularly Kamala Harris, were at fault here.
Break It Down
One of the most honest things Clinton said about the election was, "I think [progressives] got used to winning elections and we forgot that every one of them had to be hard fought and that it wasn't just some sort of automatic thing.”
On the concern over some of Trump’s more questionable appointments, Clinton stated, "That's why I think there is very little concern that Trump seems to be appointing people of, shall we say limited experience and highly targeted toward his message.
"I think it's because people have lost faith in establishments everywhere.”
Bill had a lot more to say, but I really want to dial into these two comments that he made.
Regarding how progressives took this all for granted, I could not agree more, and I think the 2020 election set that up because most of our regular election rules were tossed out due to COVID.
Regarding Trump’s appointments, I think Trump has done a decent job, but there are probably close to a dozen nominees that I cannot get behind.
Linda McMahan, for instance, as the Secretary of Education, just seems like an idiotic pick of someone who has no experience and is more or less a payoff of a major donor (she donated more than $20 million in this election cycle).
I am struggling with Pete Hegseth as Secretary of Defense, I have serious questions about Tulsi Gabbard, I did not like Matt Gaetz, I cannot stand Vivek Ramaswamy, and there are real concerns about Governor Noem as DHS boss.
I love Kash Patel to clean up the FBI, but I am not so sure he is the guy to actually lead the agency.
As you guys know, I am not someone who will just rubberstamp appointments because there is a Republican in office, far from it.
I will even hold accountable the staffers that I support going in and will scrutinize them just as much as I would a Democrat pick.
That is especially true during this cycle because we have zero margins for error over the next two years if we expect to hold the House and Senate again in 2026.
