Bill Clinton: A Conservative Woman More Likely First Woman President

In modern history, there have only been two women to run for president under a major party.

The first was Hillary Clinton, who lost to Donald Trump 304-227. The second was Kamala Harris, who was gifted the nomination after Biden decided to withdraw from the election, and she also lost to Trump, 306-226.

Former Democrat President Bill Clinton believes that if a woman is going to win the presidential election, it is more likely to be a conservative woman than a liberal one.

Bad News for Dems

When Hillary ran, she was supposed to be the woman to break through the glass ceiling, but she ran an uber-negative campaign that was based more on her not being Donald Trump than her policies.

Harris ran a similar campaign, unable to intelligently communicate her platform, as well as going completely negative down the stretch.

In both cases, the media and Democrats pitched the sexism angle, but Bill Clinton just put that aside, at least in part.

Clinton sat down with CBS News’ Tracy Smith, who asked Clinton if the country was ready for a female president.

He responded, "Maybe. I think in some ways we've moved to the right as a reaction to all the turmoil. And I think if Hillary had been nominated in 2008, she would've walked in, just like Obama did."

When Smith asked for clarification of it being party more than gender, Clinton responded, "No. Although I think it would probably be easier for a conservative Republican woman to win."

I disagree, as I think Americans are dying to have a woman president, but I think they also realize that it has to be the right woman or it could be decades before another woman successfully runs for president in this country.

If I am being honest, the woman who scared the death out of me in 2020 was Tulsi Gabbard. Had she won that primary, I think she would have checked all the boxes.

Even though she was a Democrat, she was a veteran, tough on immigration, and more moderate overall.

Now as a Republican, I think Gabbard could be a force at the top of the ticket or as VP if she cannot win the primary race, which would then set her up as a clear favorite in the next election.

I believe you will see a very crowded GOP field in the 2028 election, and don’t be surprised if a woman comes out with the nomination.

With the gains the GOP has made with minorities, if they could boast of also having the first female president, well, I think it would be lights out for the Democrat Party.
