Biden's Energy secretary lands cushy job at company she boosted with taxpayer cash
Joe Biden's former Energy secretary, Jennifer Granholm, just took a new job that has left many furious.
Granholm is a new board member for Edison International, a multi-billion-dollar electric company as well as a board member for Southern California Edison, a subsidiary of the holding company.
Edison International board chair, Peter J. Taylor, has released a statement confirming Granholm’s onboarding.
“Jennifer’s experience as a leader familiar with cybersecurity, physical security, and clean energy resources ― and known for working in partnership with utilities and other industries ― will allow her to make important contributions to Edison International, including SCE and Trio,” Taylor said.
The CEO of Edison International, Pedro J. Pizarro, has also released a statement confirming Granholm’s new position.
“We're thrilled she is joining our boards, and we look forward to the guidance she will provide based on her understanding of the technical, political, and economic forces shaping our industry today,” Pizarro said.
The controversy is because while Granholm worked in the Biden administration, she made sure Edison International’s subsidiary, Southern California Edison, received millions of taxpayer dollars.
In fact, $600 million from taxpayers made its way from Granholm’s Department of Energy to Southern California Edison.
Americans are not oblivious to this insane misuse of power and many are now stepping forward to let their thoughts be known.
Michael Chamberlain is one of those Americans.
Chamberlain, the executive director of Protect the Public’s Trust, has released a statement on the news of Granholm’s new positions.
“Though they promised us something far different, the Biden administration revolving door looks to be still whirring fast enough to power a major city,” Chamberlain began.
“Incidents of former powerful government officials cashing in on their government service by leaving to work for companies that had matters before the department while they were there is a major contributor to the precipitous decline in the public’s trust in government,” he continued.
Granholm is set to begin her new position on April 11th, 2025.
