Biden Whistleblower Remains Behind Bars in ‘Politically Motivated’ Prosecution
There are a lot of people wondering why former FBI informant Alexander Smirnov remains behind bars after never having had a trial.
If you recall, Smirnov is the individual who came forward claiming he knew about a $10 million bribe paid to the Bidens.
Up until he was tossed into prison, the FBI considered him a trusted source and had paid the man more than $100,000 for information it used in cases.
What’s Going On?
The problems for Smirnov started during the GOP impeachment inquiry into Joe Biden and the Biden family business dealings.
In February, the former FBI informant was charged with having “provided false derogatory information to the FBI in 2020 about Joseph Biden, who at the time was a candidate for president and had previously been the vice president.
“The alleged false information concerned Joseph Biden’s and his son Hunter Biden’s involvement with Burisma Holdings Ltd., a Ukrainian energy business.”
Smirnov’s home was searched when he was arrested, and the FBI reportedly found a hat with the “Let’s Go Brandon” logo, claiming that hat proved his “bias” against Joe Biden.
Since Smirnov’s claim, the FBI has been able to find proof of the claim of the bribe, but the argument can be made that accepting information from an informant is never going to be 100% reliable.
If the FBI tossed every informant in jail that gave them bogus information, well, the FBI would no longer have any informants, so why then is this man being treated differently?
The original case was being overseen by then-Pittsburgh US Attorney Scott Brady, who thought the information that had been provided by Smirnov was credible enough to pass it up the chain.
Yet, we know the IRS investigation was being blocked to protect Hunter Biden, which is where this information would have been used.
In fact, one of the IRS agents who was part of that investigation testified before Congress, “As a result of the information being concealed by prosecutors from the IRS [and] FBI investigators assigned to this investigation, we were unable to follow alleged criminal activity as would normally be completed.”
Smirnov is now being represented by attorneys David Chesnoff and Richard Schonfeld, who are now claiming the charges filed against Smirnov were “politically motivated.”
The trial is set to hit the courtroom in January, so it will be very interesting to see how the Trump administration treats this case.
Will it just try to drop the charges and move on, or will Trump’s AG allow Biden’s DOJ to go on trial for its actions?
My guess is that it will be the latter.
