Biden Takes Credit for Fall of Assad
Joe Biden just popped his head up out of the sand to take credit for something.
According to Biden, he is the reason that Syrian President Assad was removed from power.
Biden addressed the nation briefly on Sunday to slap himself on the back over this.
All About Me…
Listening to Biden’s reasons for giving himself credit, I could not help but laugh.
For instance, Biden cited giving Israel the freedom it needed to respond to the attack by Hamas, but that is questionable at best.
Biden stated, “Over the past four years, my administration pursued a clear, principled policy towards Syria. First, we made clear from the start that sanctions on Assad would remain in place unless he engaged seriously in a political process to end the civil war, as outlined in the U.N. security council resolution that passed in 2015. But Assad refused. So we carried out a comprehensive sanctions program against him and all those responsible for atrocities against the Syrian people.
“Second, we maintained our military presence in Syria, our counter ISIS, to counter the support of local partners as well on the ground, their partners, never ceding an inch of territory, taking out leaders of ISIS, ensuring that ISIS can never establish a safe haven there again.
“Third, we supported Israel’s freedom of action against Iranian networks in Syria and against actors aligned with Iran, transporting lethal aid to Lebanon — and, when necessary, ordered the use of military force against Iranian networks to protect U.S. forces.
“Our approach has shifted the balance of power in the Middle East. Through this combination of support from our partners sanctions, diplomacy, and targeted military force when necessary, we now see new opportunities opening up for the people of Syria and for the entire region.”
There is some bending of the truth there because if Barack Obama and Biden had had their way, Iran would be much stronger in the Middle East.
And let’s not forget how Biden has regularly looked the other way when it comes to Syria’s use of chemical weapons when they were trying to be Assad’s buddy.
If anything, the restrictions Biden has put on Israel have prolonged this war with Hamas when it should have been over months ago had Netanyahu been able to take the gloves off.
My concern is not who gets credit for it, but in how much money will be pledged by the United States to start to rebuild Syria now that Assad is gone.
Even though our country is teetering on financial ruin, I am sure Biden and company will have no problem adding a few more billion to the total.
