Joe Biden continues to give Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu the cold shoulder.
Biden and Democrats put their best face on for the camera when it comes to Israel and Netanyahu, but it seems pretty clear that they cannot stand him or the country.
After eight years of Obama, Donald Trump finally got Israel and the United States back on track, but Biden has once again started to treat Israel like a red-headed stepchild, complete to refusing to have Netanyahu over the pond for a visit.
All About the Optics
Biden has not had many kind words to say about Israel since Netanyahu came back into power.
He has been particularly critical of Netanyahu’s cabinet. Honestly, at this point, you would think he was talking about Donald Trump instead of the PM.
Netanyahu has not taken this stiff arm kindly, but Biden is refusing to bring him in, solely because he knows members of the Squad would probably lead a protest and embarrass Biden.
Instead, Biden has invited the Israeli president to visit later in July.
Biden stated, “The Israeli president is going to be coming. We have other contacts. I’ve been— I think it’s fair to say, an unyielding supporter of Israel for over— I’ve only been around a couple of years, but for as long as I have been around.
“And Bibi, I think, is trying to work through how he can work through his existing problems in terms of his coalition,” reports The Hill.
Biden continued, “I’m one of those who believes that Israel’s ultimate security rests in a two-state solution. I think it’s a mistake to think that, as some members of his cabinet— and this is one of the most extreme members of cabinets that I have… seen,” reports the Times of Israel.
I am not so sure that comments are going to lie well with Netanyahu, so we will have to keep an eye on this to see if this is a nothing burger or it blows back up in Biden’s face.
Trump may not be popular on the world stage, but you better believe that Netanyahu would much prefer to work with Trump, who he knows has his back, than Biden, who has proven to be two-faced and will sell out our primary ally in the Middle East in a heartbeat if he thinks it will get him more votes from the left extreme in this country.
