We have yet another gaffe from the Biden administration, and this one just shows how stupid the people that are working for Joe really are.
This administration has made it quite clear that it wants to get rid of the fossil fuel industry at all costs.
Yet, Interior Secretary Deb Haaland just touted the success of two different funds and the amazing work they are doing, but it does not appear that she realized those funds are filled with money from the fossil fuel industry.
Point being, if they do what they want and kill the fossil fuel industry, these conservation funds go away.
Where Did the Money Come From?
On Thursday, the Department of the Interior and Agriculture Department praised the Legacy Restoration Fund (LRF) and Land and Water Conservation Fund (LWCF).
Between those two programs, the government will be spending a whopping $2.8 billion on various conservation initiatives.
Haaland stated, "The Great American Outdoors Act allows us to increase outdoor recreation opportunities, improve infrastructure on our public lands, invest in the U.S. economy, and honor our commitment to Tribal communities."
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack added, "Funding made possible through the Great American Outdoors Act's Legacy Restoration Fund allows us to enhance equitable access for recreators, create job opportunities, advance community well-being and improve rural and urban economies."
First, that legislation was passed and signed during the Trump administration, with Trump signing the legislation in August 2020.
It earmarks "$1.9 billion per year to the LRF for deferred public lands maintenance and another $900 million per year to the LWCF for various conservation and recreation programs," according to Fox News.
The funding largely comes from fossil fuel energy development on federal lands. According to the most recent reports, of the $9.6 billion generated in federal revenue for current fiscal year, 90 precent comes from fossil fuel royalties.
Hannah Downey, policy director at the Property and Environment Research Center, backed this up during a recent hearing, stating, "All of the funding for the Great American Outdoors Act comes from energy development on federal lands and offshore waters. Indeed, federal energy revenues have long provided significant funding for conservation and recreation on public lands."
But guess what happens now that Biden has his boot on the throat of the industry? That funding they are touting (while not actually revealing where it came from) will decrease dramatically.
In fact, due to current gas and oil lease restrictions, income is projected to be down $420 million a year as it stands now.
So, go ahead, Joe, keep killing the fossil fuel industry.
