Biden Names Ed Siskel as New White House Counsel

President Joe Biden has announced Ed Siskel as the new counsel for the White House.

The move comes as the Biden administration faces an investigation from the House Oversight Committee over bribery allegations.

"For nearly four years in the White House when I was vice president, he helped the Counsel’s Office navigate complex challenges and advance the president’s agenda on behalf of the American people," Biden said Tuesday.

"As a federal prosecutor and then as the top counsel for one of America’s biggest and most vibrant cities, his hometown of Chicago, Ed has shown a deep commitment to public service and respect for the law," he added.

"Siskel’s arrival comes as the president faces a special counsel investigation into his alleged mishandling of classified documents, a special counsel investigation of his eldest son Hunter Biden, and as House Republicans have launched multiple investigations into him, his son and the origins of COVID-19," Fox News reported.

"Also, some Republican lawmakers are pushing to impeach the president," it noted.

"In the past, Siskel assisted the Obama administration in navigating congressional investigations and 'other political land mines,' such as the solar panel business Solyndra, which received government assistance, as well as the terrorist assaults on the U.S. Consulate complex in Benghazi, Libya, which killed four Americans," OANN wrote.

"Additionally, Siskel previously managed the implementation and subsequent legal challenges to the Affordable Care Act, popularly known as 'ObamaCare,'" it added.

Biden's replacement will fill the role of Student Delery. The current White House counsel is set to retire in September.

The hire is also another sign of influence from the Obama administration as the past president seeks to help Biden win a second term in office.
