Biden Judicial Nominee Accused of Antisemitism in New Ad

The Judicial Crisis Network (JCN) recently launched a robust digital advertising campaign, allocating $50,000 to target Adeel Abdallah Mangi, President Joe Biden's nominee for the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit.

In the ads, titled "Stop Antisemitic Adeel," concerns are raised about Mangi's alleged association with the Rutgers Law School’s Center for Security, Race and Rights, which has been accused of promoting anti-Israel sentiments and hosting speakers with ties to terrorist organizations.

These ads, strategically placed in Montana, Pennsylvania, and Washington, D.C., aim to mobilize viewers to engage with their senators and urge them to oppose Mangi's confirmation.

Carrie Severino, President of JCN, has been vocal in criticizing Mangi's affiliation with the center, emphasizing its troubling history of endorsing events with antisemitic themes.

“When asked about his affiliation with the Center during his Senate Judiciary Committee hearing last month, Mangi downplayed his involvement, insisting that he only gave advice on academic research for the Center and was not aware of the vile antisemitic content of its programs,” Severino noted.

“Yet Mangi’s firm, Patterson Belknap, is one of the Center’s few ‘Law Fellow Sponsors,’ and Mangi appears to have been the firm’s only employee on the board of advisors," she added.

During Mangi's confirmation hearing in December, Republican Senators expressed reservations about his involvement with the institute.

Mangi sidestepped direct inquiries and refrained from condemning the center's extremist viewpoints.

Despite assertions from Democrats of Islamophobia in the questioning, apprehensions persist regarding Mangi's alignment with an organization that promotes such radical ideologies.

Given the gravity of the allegations and the implications for judicial integrity, this campaign underscores the importance of thorough scrutiny and accountability in the nomination process.

As the debate unfolds, stakeholders are closely monitoring developments, recognizing the significant implications of Mangi's potential appointment to a lifetime position on the appellate court.
