Biden Gives Green Light to Alaskan Willow Project

Joe Biden has officially given the green light to the Alaskan Willow Project, reports CNN.

The project has already been reviewed by the Department of the Interior, but there was still some skepticism that even after it was reduced from five sites down to three, Biden would give it a thumbs down.

On Monday, the project was approved, and the entire left is losing its mind.

Time to Drill

Alaskan lawmakers are in favor of the project, as are most Alaskans.

The project will add about 1,800 construction jobs and 300 forever jobs. It will crank out about 180,000 barrels of oil every day, and it will generate billions in income for the federal government.

The sites will consist of about 219 wells.

With our current energy situation, this is actually a good thing, but leftists that took Biden at his word that there would be no more drilling projects are walking right up to the edge of the ledge.

The Natural Resources Defense Counsel stated, ”It’ll escalate the climate crisis and lock us into decades of dependence on Big Oil executives hell-bent on destroying the planet. The fight isn’t over and we will consider every tool available to stop this climate bomb,” reports the New York Post.

Sierra Club executive director Ben Jealous stated this project has “made it almost impossible to achieve the climate goals they set for public lands.”

He continued, “While we celebrate the administration’s unparalleled protections for Alaskan landscapes and waters, the decision to approve the Willow Project may very well wipe out many of these climate and ecological benefits.

“And by approving one of the largest oil and gas extraction projects on federal public lands, one must ask the question what the Biden administration has in store for the Arctic Refuge.”

Alaskan Republicans had a different take.

Sen. Dan Sullivan (R-AK) stated, “Producing much-needed American energy in Alaska with the world’s highest environmental standards and lowest emissions enhances the global environment.”

Senator Murkowski (R-AK) also took a victory lap, adding, ”This project will produce lasting economic and security benefits for our state and the nation.”

I am pretty sure this is the first thing that Biden has done since coming into office that most of us would agree is a good thing.
