Biden EPA makes unprecedented climate change arrest

A shocking arrest has been made by the Biden administration.

Michael Hart of San Diego has been arrested on charges of “smuggling potent greenhouse gases,” according to an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) report.

Hart’s arrest is the very first ever recorded of this specific charge.

Hart’s arrest is due to the American Innovation and Manufacturing (AIM) Act that was put into place by the EPA this year.

Chad Plantz, an EPA special agent, said “This case and subsequent arrest is a great example of multiple agencies collaborating to arrest an individual who allegedly smuggled illegal goods into the U.S. that harm our environment.

“We remain committed to keeping these dangerous toxins from depleting our ozone,” Plantz continued.

David M. Uhlmann, an assistant administrator for EPA’s Office of Enforcement and Compliance Assurance has also made a statement.

“In Fiscal Year 2024, EPA’s enforcement and compliance assurance program produced its strongest results since 2017, focusing on efforts to combat climate change and tackling some of the nation’s most significant environmental threats to our shared air, water, and land,” said Uhlmann.

Uhlmann did not stop there.

“The illegal smuggling of hydrofluorocarbons, a highly potent greenhouse gas, undermines international efforts to combat climate change under the Kigali Amendment to the Montreal Protocol. The progress made under the Biden-Harris Administration has sent a clear signal that polluters will be held accountable and that protecting communities from harm is a top priority,” Uhlmann continued.

“Anyone who seeks to profit from illegal actions that worsen climate change must be held accountable. This arrest highlights the significance of EPA’s climate enforcement initiative and our efforts to prevent refrigerants that are climate super pollutants from illegally entering the United States,” Uhlmann also said.

Do you agree with this arrest, or do you think people being thrown in jail over gasses is going too far?

It will be interesting to see what these rules and regulations look like once Donald Trump takes over!
