Biden Earmarks More Than $16b in Rail Grants for Amtrak

Joe Biden loves him some Amtrak trains, and he is doing his best to help out the struggling rail provider by earmarking more than $16 billion in government grants.

The money would be used along the Northeast Corridor, a route that Joe Biden knows well.

On Monday, Joe Biden held a presser at the Amtrak Bear Maintenance Shops to announce the bailout money.

Overhauling Rail Travel

Joe Biden was infamous for riding the train to DC in the morning from Delaware and heading back at night to see his wife and kids.

There are a lot of questions about how many miles Biden actually traveled, but nobody will argue that he probably logged more train miles than any other lawmaker at the time.

Biden stated that the funding "will upgrade aging infrastructure on the nation’s most heavily traveled rail corridor to increase train speeds, reduce passenger delays, and create good-paying union jobs.”

All of the funding concentrates on the Northeast Corridor, meaning all blue states, which is where the GOP has an issue.

Senator Ted Cruz (R-TX) stated, “The Biden administration continues to unfairly divert taxpayer dollars away from the majority of the country to bloated, over-budget, blue-state projects.

"Congress wrote the law for these grant programs to be competitively bid in all states, not to backfill the Gateway Program."

Cruz and Republicans are now demanding that Biden put control measures in place to give assurances that there will be no wasteful spending, but I doubt Biden will cave.

I say this because Biden has handed hundreds of billions in aid to Ukraine with zero accountability, and we know there has been significant fraud there.

This is about votes… so don’t expect Biden to cave to a demand from a Republican Senator when the Democrats still own the Senate. Senator Schumer (D-N.Y.) has made it quite clear that he cares as little for accountability as Biden.
