Biden claims no clear motive in LGBTQ Colorado bar shooting, calls for more gun control

President Joe Biden condemned a Colorado LGBTQ bar shooting that occurred on Saturday, claiming there was no known motive in the tragedy.

Biden released the statement on Sunday following the shooting deaths of five people where several others were injured in Colorado Springs.

While no motive in this attack is yet clear, we know that the LGBTQI+ community has been subjected to horrific hate violence in recent years," Biden wrote in the statement.

"Gun violence continues to have a devastating and particular impact on LGBTQI+ communities across our nation and threats of violence are increasing. We saw it six years ago in Orlando, when our nation suffered the deadliest attack affecting the LGBTQI+ community in American history," he added.

A Fox News report highlighted that Biden made the connection with the Pulse club shooting in Florida despite no known motive.

"The president acknowledged that 'no motive' had yet been determined in the shooting, but nevertheless connected the attack to the mass shooting at Pulse nightclub in Florida six years ago," the report stated.

"Police say 22-year-old Anderson Lee Aldrich killed at least five people and injured 18 more in his assault on the nightclub," it added.

Biden's statement offers a clear condemnation of the tragedy but hastily politicized the event to address LGBTQ issues and gun control.

The president's comments were made before many of the details of the tragic shooting were even known, while also turning political as a community grieves the loss of lives in the shooting.

The shooter's motive may not yet be known, but it appears clear that Biden's motives are on full display in the emphasis on additional Second Amendment limitations.
