When Donald Trump was in office, he used the “public charge” rule to limit asylum seekers.
The essence of the Trump-era rule was to prohibit illegal immigrants with nothing to contribute to the country from entering.
Joe Biden is ending that rule, now allowing illegals seeking asylum to tap into entitlement programs such as food stamps and Medicaid.
The Helping Hand
The new Biden rule opens the door for massive spending by illegals with no real means to care for themselves.
As noted above, Trump used this to limit immigration, but Biden seems intent on making it as easy as possible for freeloaders to come to this country and stay.
DHS Secretary Mayorkas was giddy explaining the new policy.
He stated, “This action ensures fair and humane treatment of legal immigrants and their U.S. citizen family members.
“We will not penalize individuals for choosing to access the health benefits and other supplemental government services available to them.”
The Department of Health and Human Services added, “The [new] rule… will help ensure that noncitizens can access health-related benefits and other supplemental government services to which they are entitled by law, without triggering harmful immigration consequences.”
Legal immigration limits are currently around one million, all of whom are competing with legal residents and citizens turning 18 for the job market.
Since Biden has taken office, an estimated three million additional illegal immigrants have entered the country via the southern border.
Biden is literally punishing Americans with this policy by penalizing them economically and making entry-level jobs far harder to come by with Americans just entering the workforce.
