President Joe Biden's approval rating continues to rank low, with the majority of Americans concerned that the nation is not headed in the right direction.
A new AP-NORC poll released Thursday provided the research backing the new concerns.
Biden approval rating holds underwater, just 28% say America heading in right direction: poll https://t.co/RrDB3o4LWG

"An AP-NORC survey released Thursday finds that 71% of Americans believe the country is headed in the wrong direction, while only 28% think the United States is moving in the right direction. The numbers show persistent, widespread dissatisfaction with the state of the county and the economy," Fox News reported.
"Biden's approval rating remains negative but is unchanged from last month's AP-NORC poll. Overall, 43% of the public approve of the job Biden is doing while 55% disapprove," it added.
The low numbers come even after Democrats fared well against an expected red wave during the midterm elections.
With Sen. Raphael Warnock defeating Republican candidate Herschel Walker in Georgia's Senate runoff, Biden's party has a 51-seat majority in the Senate. Republicans will lead in the next Congress in the House, but only by a slim margin.
Biden has not yet announced plans to run for reelection in 2024. He is expected to make his formal decision after the holidays.
Recent moves show that Biden is increasingly likely to run again, despite recently turning 80 years old, making him the oldest sitting president.
Biden is working to make South Carolina the first Democrat primary for 2024, a state he won in 2020. The president narrowly lost in Iowa in 2020 where the first party primary is traditionally held.

If so, he'll face a majority of those polled in his own party who would prefer someone else to run, making Biden's battle a tough challenge even among Democrats.
