The Supreme Court shot down affirmative action in June, so the Biden administration is already issuing workarounds for woke schools.
Reports surfaced this week that the Biden administration has issued new “legal resources” for schools that wish to continue to push student diversity over students that actually have earned admission, reported CBS News.
Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona addressed the situation with the media this week.
Great Urgency
Cardona said, “This is a moment of great urgency in higher education,” reported CNN.
He went on to say that the Supreme Court had removed “a tool that colleges have used for decades to build diverse campus communities and create equitable opportunities for students of all backgrounds.”
One might also make the case that students that deserved to be admitted were denied in the name of affirmative action.
I just find it rather ironic how just about every minority Republican in office applauded the ruling, while Democrats accused the court of being racist.
Keep in mind, the court did not completely rule out diversity, it merely stated that schools could not rely solely on demographics to base an admission.
To that point, Associate Attorney General Vanita Gupta stated, “The Supreme Court’s opinion recognized what we know to be true, that race can be relevant to a person’s life or lived experience and they impact one’s development motivations, academic interests or personal or professional aspirations.
“That impact can still be considered in university admissions.”
Cardona also stated that the Department of Education will soon be publishing a report on the “most effective and promising strategies for colleges to lawfully cultivate diverse applicant pools and achieve diverse student bodies.”
Basically, Biden’s administration will be looking at how to bend the rules as much as possible without violating the Supreme Court ruling.
I can only imagine what would be happening in this country now if there was a strong liberal advantage on the court.
To think that so many of Biden’s policies would have been green-lit by these rubberstamping activists that Democrats continue to put on the bench sickens me and truly has me worried about the future of this country.
