Biden Addresses Death of Jimmy Carter

On Sunday, the country was stunned to hear that President Jimmy Carter, our 39th president, had passed away at the age of 100.

Carter had been in hospice care for about two years, yet it seemed like he was still going to live forever.

Joe Biden commented on the former president’s life, while also managing to take a cheap shot at Trump in the process.

He’s Gone…

Biden and Carter have known each other since Carter launched his bid to become president, having worked on his campaign with the former president.

Biden stated, "Some look at Jimmy Carter and see a man of a bygone era with honesty and character. Faith and humility mattered, but I don't believe it's a bygone era. We'd all do well to try to be more like Jimmy Carter."

Biden was then asked what Donald Trump could learn from Carter, and Biden took his shot, stating, "Decency, decency, decency. … Can you imagine Jimmy Carter walking by someone who needed something and just keep walking? Can you imagine Jimmy Carter referring to someone by the way they look or the way they talk?"

Trump also responded to Carter’s death, posting on Truth Social, "Those of us who have been fortunate to have served as President understand this is a very exclusive club, and only we can relate to the enormous responsibility of leading the Greatest Nation in History.

"The challenges Jimmy faced as President came at a pivotal time for our country and he did everything in his power to improve the lives of all Americans. For that, we all owe him a debt of gratitude."

Until Joe Biden, Carter was widely considered one of the worst presidents in modern history.

Some will say Carter just ran the country at a time when anyone would have failed, but he also made some very consequential decisions during his time in office that contributed to that failure.

Having said that, we should try to remember Carter for what he did after leaving office, especially in regard to his work with Habitat for Humanity. His philanthropic efforts after leaving office are unmatched by any other president.

Rather than cashing in on his office, as most have done, especially in recent history, Carter chose to give back and continued to live a very modest life in Georgia.

With Carter’s passing, ironically, Joe Biden will now become the oldest living president at 82. Bill Clinton and George Bush are 82, Donald Trump is 78, and Barack Obama is 63.

Rest in peace, Mr. President.
