Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell is a Republican.
That means if his health continues to go down the road it is apparently going, a replacement will be needed very soon.
Americans want a conservative.
Kentucky's governor, Democrat Andy Beshear, didn't rush to agree.
When asked what was going to happen when a McConnell replacement inevitably needs to be named, voters in Kentucky wanted to be sure that Beshear was going to insert somebody of whom Republicans approved.
It only made sense, since McConnell had repeatedly called himself a Republican for years.
Beshear wasn't willing to agree.
"There is no Senate vacancy," Beshear said. "Sen. McConnell has said he’s going to serve out his term, and I believe him, so I’m not going to speculate about something that hasn’t happened and isn’t going to happen."
That would be a cool thing for Beshear to say, if we all couldn't see exactly where McConnell's health is headed.
It's pretty clear that McConnell isn't going to be able to do a sufficient job leading Americans, and we're going to need a replacement in the near future.
By putting up a gimmick that he supported McConnell, Beshear was able to weasel his way out of talking about who he was going to appoint to replace the Senate leader.
"Well, I respect Sen. McConnell and his health not — first of all, to not sensationalize it, and second, there is no vacancy," Beshear said. "So, he has said he’s going to serve out his term, and I fully believe him"
It's all lies. Beshear doesn't respect Republicans. If he does respect McConnell, it's just because Moscow Mitch has been nothing but a Republican in Name Only for quite some time now.
Beshear didn't say he would replace McConnell with a conservative... because he doesn't plan to.
