Barron Trump's ex-classmates remember him as a popular student who was 'funny' and 'sociable' but also 'mysterious'

Barron Trump's former classmates revealed what the 18-year-old was like, with some describing him as "mysterious" but "very funny and sociable," Breitbart reported. The youngest son of former President Donald Trump recently graduated from Oxbridge Academy in West Palm Beach, Florida.

Barron's high school experience was unlike that of his classmates. He was never far from the watchful eye of his Secret Service detail when he was in school but completed about "half" of his work remotely.

Although he was popular, Barron kept to himself and didn't engage in many of the activities average high school students enjoy and never ate lunch while at school. "He was also very mysterious," Barron's classmate said.

"He never attended football games or dances. I don’t think he met up with anyone outside of school or went on dates," the classmate added.

Security Risk

As the son of a president, Barron required tight security. According to the UK Daily Mail, which broke the story, Barron was registered at the school under the name Jack to protect his privacy.

He had Secret Service personnel protecting him at all times. "He had multiple agents who would rotate throughout the day, and there was always one with him wherever he needed to go," a friend of Barron's said.

"The agents would stand right outside the door during class. If he went to the bathroom, they would go with him and wait outside," the former classmate explained.

While the Secret Service was mostly part of the background, there was one instance in particular when agents sprang into action. They stormed into the classroom to hustle Barron to safety following an incident at Publix supermarket in the area that put the agents on alert.

While the students didn't mind and liked being in school with Barron, the parents were uneasy. "A lot of parents had concerns that the school could become a target when they heard he was coming to Oxbridge," Barron's friend said.

Odd Man Out

Barron's mother, former first lady Melania Trump, went to great lengths to shield her son from the public eye during her husband's presidency. This need for security and privacy made Barron the odd man out at school.

He did not mingle with many of his classmates and any social life he had was outside of school, if at all. "If he had a girlfriend, it was top-secret we never knew about it," a friend said.

"I believe there was a football banquet hosted by Mar-a-Lago, but I don’t think he came downstairs or socialized with anyone," the friend added later. Despite the distance and some of the challenges, Barron's peers were "proud" to be there with him.

"I do think everyone will be proud that they went to school with Barron. A lot of the students consider themselves Republicans, and everyone was super excited when Trump showed up for the graduation," the friend said.

It's a difficult life being the child of an American president. Barron's parents made the right decision to go to great lengths to keep him from the worst of it, even if it meant he missed out on some things.
