REPORT: 1,000 Georgia Absentee Ballots Never Mailed

The table has been set for an election issue in Georgia if we have a close election.

More than 1,000 absentee ballots were never mailed to voters that had requested them in Cobb County.

This is a decidedly blue county in Georgia.

One Job

It is rather stunning that with all the attention we have on elections for fraud right now that something like this can happen.

This is exactly how conspiracy theories are fed.

A total of 1036 absentee ballots were requested but not mailed in Cobb County.

Of those, 250 have voted during early voting.

The ACLU has filed a lawsuit to ensure these individuals can still vote if they are unable to get to the polls today.

Jonathan Topaz, staff attorney with the ACLU's Voting Rights Project stated, "Hundreds of eligible Cobb County voters did everything right and yet find themselves on the brink of total disenfranchisement because they were never mailed their absentee ballots, as is required under Georgia law.

"Only this court can right the wrong done to these hundreds of voters and ensure that they are able to exercise their fundamental right to vote in this November election."

If election officials are smart, they will do whatever it takes to get ballots in their hands, even if it means hand-delivering every single one of them and sitting there until they are filled out to drop them in a ballot box.

The fact this is a blue county only makes it worse, as it gives Stacey Abrams a reason to claim she was cheated.

Furthermore, whoever the election official is that was responsible for this mishap should be immediately fired.

We simply cannot have these mistakes in an election.
