Axelrod Believes Biden Campaign Hiding Data

On Thursday afternoon, Joe Biden held a “Big Boy” press conference to quell concerns about his candidacy.

I doubt the presser changed many minds, but former Obama adviser David Axelrod said there was something else of concern.

Based on some statements that Biden made during the press conference, Axelrod believes the Biden campaign team could be hiding data from Biden.

Not the Full Truth

Despite all of Biden’s mental gaffes, his age has become the prominent factor in why people do not want to vote for him.

Axelrod stated, “If what he said at the end of his presser is true, it sounds like Biden’s team has not been very candid with him about what the data is showing.

“The age issue is a huge and potentially insurmountable concern.”

Axelrod was referring to Biden's response when a reporter asked him if he would turn over his candidacy to Harris if the data showed that she was polling better against Trump.

Biden responded, “No, unless they came back and said, ‘There’s no way you can win.’ Me. No one’s saying that. No poll’s saying that.”

The most recent national poll actually does show Biden as the lowest polling Democrat against Trump, with Whitmer, Newsom, and Harris all beating Trump, and Biden losing 43-42%.

In all key battleground states, including the Blue Wall, Trump remains ahead of Biden, albeit by some pretty tight margins.

Trump is only winning Wisconsin by 0.5%, and he is winning Michigan by a mere 0.2%.

In the rest of the battleground states, Trump has a fairly comfortable winning margin.

If Trump can win one of the Blue Wall states, it would be very difficult for Biden to pull off a win.

If Trump can win two of the Blue Wall states and win the rest of the battleground states as polling currently dictates, there is no path ahead for Joe Biden to win the 2024 election.

Four months is still a lot of time, but with the RNC coming up next, I would expect Trump’s numbers to grow and then ebb back down during the DNC.

The question then is who gets the bigger bump from their respective convention and if Biden will stay committed to that second debate.
