Award-Winning News Anchor Dead at 39

Santa Monica residents were devastated to learn of the death of one of their local anchors.

KCAL News anchor and Emmy Award-winning journalist Chauncy Glover has passed away.

He was only 39 years old.

Too Young

His family shared the news of his death, but no details were offered.

The Glover family stated, “We, Sherry and Robert Glover, along with Chauncy’s beloved family, are devastated by the unimaginable loss of our beloved Chauncy.

“He was more than a son and brother – he was a beacon of light in our lives and a true hero to his community.”

Glover was already a fan favorite, but he became a legend of sorts when he rescued a woman in labor during Hurricane Harvey.

This was a young man who truly appreciated the support the community has shown him, and gave back just as much as he received.

His family touched on this in the statement, adding, “Chauncy’s compassion and dedication to helping others, especially through the Chauncy Glover Project, changed countless lives and inspired so many young men to pursue their dreams."

I truly hate reporting these stories of young people who get it, are successful, give back, and are unfortunately taken from us far too soon.

Our hearts go out to his family and friends.

Rest in peace, young man, for you were taken far too soon.

My biggest fear, of course, is when they do not give the details of the death.

When that happens, I immediately think suicide or overdose, and it would just be crushing to think that someone who had so much going for him decided to take his own life in any way.
