Democrats have been bragging about defunding the Austin Police Department for two years.
What did it get them?
Soaring crime rates and the complete destruction of morale.
Only they will deny it all.
Crushing
This is a tweet from former Austin City Council member Greg Casar.
We did it!! Austin City Council just reduced APD's budget by over $100 million *and* reinvested resources into our community's safety and well-being. Tens of thousands of you have called, emailed, and testified. You made the impossible into a reality. #blacklivesmatter pic.twitter.com/trrYSDEOK6

He is now running for Congress.
One Austin police officer stated, "Everybody who keeps getting elected here is just further to the left every time, it's gone from more passively anti-police to, what you've really seen since 2020, is just overtly anti-police.
"I think that has been a big tipping point for a lot of people and we've just had enough."
Another police officer stated, "Mayor and City Council seems to have no idea how much their decisions have negatively impacted APD and the citizens of Austin.
"Employee morale among sworn staff is so low."
Austin had 89 murders in 2021, a new record, which seems be typical of Democrat-run cities these days.
Cuts and morale have resulted in massive staffing shortages.
The end result is police no longer respond to non-emergency calls.
Task forces have been eliminated and dangerous criminals, such as sex offenders, are no longer being tracked.
If someone can tell me how that is making citizens safer, I am all ears.
