Austin Impeachment Papers Files by Rep. Rosendale

Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin has been all over the news lately for being hospitalized without telling the White House.

According to the report, Austin had an elective procedure done in December, but due to complications, he was admitted to Walter Reed on January 1.

The White House was not notified that Austin was hospitalized until January 4, and the American people were not told about it until January 5.

Impeach Him

Since that story broke, Rep. Matt Rosendale (R-MT) has introduced a resolution to impeach Austin, although he says it has nothing to do with his absence from his post without notifying the White House.

Instead, the resolution focuses on the Afghanistan withdrawal and the Chinese Spy Balloon incident that happened last year.

Rosendale stated, “Sec. Austin has violated his oath of office time and time again and has jeopardized the lives of the American people.”

This is not the first time that Austin has been targeted for impeachment, with Rep. Cory Mills (R-FL) having filed a similar resolution after the Afghanistan withdrawal.

However, Mills is focusing on the unreported absence, stating, “As an Army Combat Veteran and a member of the Armed Services Committee, I find Defense Secretary Lloyd Austin’s recent actions deeply troubling and a dereliction of duty.”

We have seen plenty of posts regarding Austin’s absence, but I have yet to see widespread support for Austin to be impeached. But there have been plenty of calls for his resignation as well as demands that Joe Biden fire him.

The White House has more or less brushed this under the rug, explaining the communication breakdown as Austin’s Chief of Staff having the flu.

Now, this is the Secretary of Defense, and there is not a single person reading this article that could just disappear from work for a week, then tell their boss they had the flu and expect to still have a job.

Instead of at least disciplining Austin, Joe Biden has stated he has complete confidence in Austin, so don’t expect Biden to do anything about it.
