We have an update on the missing Oklahoma toddler, Athena Brownfield.
While the child has not been found as of the writing of this report, there has been an arrest made in the case.
Alysia Adams, 30, was arrested and charged with two counts of child neglect.
Athena and her 5-year-old sister were in the care of Adams and her husband at the time of the disappearance of Athena.
Adams was arrested on Thursday afternoon.
At the time of the arrest, the Oklahoma State Bureau of Investigation (OSBI) stated, "The search for Athena continues. The OSBI is following every tip that is received, which are coming in from Oklahoma, as well as other states. In an effort to find clues as to Athena's whereabouts, the trash service in Cyril [was searched].
"Additionally, analysts are reviewing surveillance video from around Cyril and seeking other evidence that can help locate Athena."
Athena was discovered missing when a postal worker found her sister wandering around by herself, clearly frightened and not where she was supposed to be.
Even though her sister was found on Tuesday, Athena could have been missing for a full week before the sister was found.
Sadly, after this much time passing, reality is starting to sink in terms of the girl still being alive, but nobody is giving up hope.
Authorities continue to use every resource at their disposal to find this girl.
Search teams have been at this for days, but they have yet to find anything that would give them a clue as to where she might be.
We have also not heard if they were able to get any information whatsoever from her sister that had been found by the postal worker.
Additionally, authorities are asking those with any information regarding the little girl's disappearance to call the OSBI at 405-879-2591 or to reach out to their local police department.
We will continue to monitor this situation and update as necessary.
