Appeals Court Signals Loosening of Gag Order Against Trump

Judge Chutkan has been out to get Trump from the moment the events of January 6 took place, at least in my opinion.

I make that statement because of the comments by Chutkan herself during the sentencing of the January 6 defendants.

Upon the request of Special Counsel Jack Smith, Chutkan issued a gag order against Trump, but that gag order could be getting sliced and diced by the appellate court, which has hinted that Trump’s First Amendment rights may have been violated.

Too Far

Smith asked for the gag order because he believes Trump is trying to intimidate and threaten witnesses via social media.

Chutkan agreed, but this case is far more complex because of Donald Trump being a presidential candidate, which was cited by at least one of the judges on the appellate panel.

The judge even stated that Trump’s opponents could use the case against him during the election, and this gag order would leave him unable to respond.

What is really going to serve as a slap in the face for Democrats is that a Biden judge is on this panel.

The three judges on the panel are Cornelia Pillard and Patricia Millett, both appointees of former President Barack Obama, and Brad Garcia, who joined the bench earlier this year after being nominated by President Biden.

Millett stated, “He has to speak ‘Miss Manners’ while everyone else is throwing targets at him?

“It would be really hard in a debate, when everyone else is going at you full bore. Your attorneys would have to have scripted little things you can say.”

Even with reducing the gag order, the judges stated they would be very careful in the restrictions removed, and the updated order may even require Trump’s attorneys to review all statements made before being posted.

While there will clearly be restrictions in place, this has to be considered a win for Trump because you know his opponents are going to use these legal issues as a way to attack him.

I have to think the Democrats are really going to focus on this because they have been doing nothing but sitting on their hands thus far.

If Trump gets nominated, you better believe the political version of nuclear war will be declared in an effort to flip Biden’s polls and get him re-elected.
