Appeals Court Dismisses Classified Documents Case

As far as Trump’s federal legal problems are concerned, Trump is now in the clear, at least for the next four years.  

Special Counsel Jack Smith recently filed a motion with a federal appeals court to drop his appeal of the Trump case dismissal that was ordered by Judge Cannon, a Trump appointee.  

That motion was granted, so the case is officially over... for now.  

Could Come Back 

Jack Smith had already filed a motion with Judge Chutkan in the January 6 case to have the case dismissed without prejudice, and that is key to this whole thing.  

Judge Chutkan ordered the case dismissed, so now both cases presented by Special Counsel Jack Smith have been dropped. 

After the latest motion was granted, Donald Trump posted, "These cases, like all of the other cases I have been forced to go through, are empty and lawless, and should never have been brought. 

"It was a political hijacking, and a low point in the History of our Country that such a thing could have happened, and yet, I persevered, against all odds, and WON." 

This is great news for Trump, but the fact these cases were both dismissed without prejudice means that charges, technically, can be brought again in the future.  

I doubt it will happen, but if Democrats do take the White House back in 2028, a Democrat AG could revive the cases and represent the cases against Trump.  

For now, however, Trump only has the Georgia RICO case, as the case brought by Manhattan DA Alvin Bragg has had its sentencing hearing suspended indefinitely. 

I fully suspect that the Georgia case will also be suspended once Trump takes office, since that case is also nowhere near close to going to trial, with the appeal of Willis overseeing the case also having been put on the backburner by the courts about a week ago.
