AOC fears she will end up in jail if Trump wins White House

With former President Donald Trump surging in the polls, it stands to reason that some on the left are starting to worry that if he reclaims the White House, he will employ the same tactics against them that they have deployed against him for the past several years.

Among those fretting about the future is liberal firebrand Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-NY), who recently expressed her concerns that Trump will jail her if he finds himself in power once more, as Breitbart reports.

AOC on edge

The outspoken member of the progressive House “Squad” made her apprehensions known during an appearance on the On with Kara Swisher podcast.

Expressing her belief that the election of Trump this November would bring about catastrophic consequences, Ocasio-Cortez declared, “I mean, it sounds nuts, but I wouldn't be surprised if this guy threw me in jail.”

“He's out of his mind,” she went on. “I mean, he did his whole first campaign around 'lock her up.' This is his motto,” the congresswoman added, referencing Trump's take on former Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

Piling on the hyperbole, AOC told Swisher, “I take him at his word when he says that he's going to round up people. I take him at his word when he threatens journalists. I take him at his word.”

Suggesting that the prospect of a Trump second term is far more frightening than the reality of his first, the Bronx lawmaker said, “I feel like what we saw in his first presidency was an amuse-bouche to what his intentions are. He has learned from his mistakes of appointing professionals, and he will not make that mistake next time.”

Not so bullish on Biden's chances

When the conversation turned to the chances of a Biden ouster this fall, AOC declared, “Trump does absolutely have a chance to win. That is why I have thrown my support behind Biden early and I support it vociferously.”

Putting her panic on full blast, Ocasio-Cortez added, “It is unequivocal that if Donald Trump wins, we are looking at the potential dissolution of democracy in the United States of America.”

Thus, she opined, “the question about what would happen to me or the Democratic Party is a joke compared to the question of what is going to happen to our country.”

Trump the benevolent?

According to the former president's own words, however, AOC need not be so alarmed, as he recently told Sean Hannity that retribution is not part of his game plan, even though it would, he noted, be a justifiable inclusion.

Regarding the left's insistence that he is set on revenge, Trump said, “they're wrong. It has to stop, because otherwise, we're not going to have a country,” and he has pledged more than once that success, not vengeful payback, will be the ultimate vindication.
