Another Harris proposal gets dealt a major blow
Another policy proposal from Vice President Kamala Harris has been dealt a big blow.
Fox News reports that the car industry is moving away from electronic vehicles.
This is significant because Harris is one of those leftist politicians who believe that the car industry ought to essentially take measures to force the American people to buy electronic vehicles.
Harris and some Democrats have argued that this is necessary to save the planet from climate change. Suffice it to say that many disagree.
The latest
Fox, in its report, demonstrates how some members of the car industry - including Ford - are backing away from the electronic vehicle push.
The outlet reports:
Ford announced last week that the car giant is changing its electric vehicle strategy and backing away from its planned all-electric, three-row SUV, instead favoring the creation of hybrid vehicles for its next rollout of three-row SUVs.
Fox goes on to quote Ford vice chair and chief financial officer John Lawler.
He said:
Our focus here is to remake Ford into a higher-growth, higher-margin, more capital-efficient and durable business, and that means these vehicles need to be profitable. And if they're not profitable, based on where the customer is in the market is, we will pivot and adjust and make those tough decisions.
Indeed, it is a tough decision for the likes of Harris.
Background
ABC News recently published a report detailing What a Kamala Harris presidency could mean for electronic vehicles.
"While there is no federal electric vehicle mandate, the Biden-Harris administration has issued regulations calling on automakers to reduce emissions produced by their fleets, including by producing more electric and hybrid vehicles," the outlet reports.
It later adds, "Through the [so-called] Inflation Reduction Act, candidate Harris has advocated for substantial investments in domestic electric vehicle car manufacturing, including funding for charging stations, and offering consumer incentives to buy EVs."
ABC goes on to note that the Biden-Harris administration has been throwing large sums of money at auto manufacturers in order to push them toward producing more electronic vehicles.
One would have to expect more of the same from a Harris administration. One would have to expect, based on what we have already seen, that a Harris administration would continue to try to force Americans to switch to electronic vehicles regardless of whether or not they want to. What recently happened with Ford suggests that things are not going to be so easy for Harris and the Democrats.
