The biggest names are coming out of the woodwork:
Joe Biden, Donald Trump, Mitch McConnell, Chuck Schumer...
They agree it's time to congratulate Kevin McCarthy after a week-long war.
McCarthy himself joked about the grueling process after accepting the Speaker's gavel:
"That was easy. I never thought I’d get up here."
He then stopped joking and said the one thing America knows now is more serious than ever before"
"I hope one thing is clear after this week: I will never give up."
Regardless of what side of the aisle they're on, many politicians were forced to congratulate McCarthy on his determination.
Joe Biden:
"Jill and I congratulate Kevin McCarthy on his election as Speaker of the House. The American people expect their leaders to govern in a way that puts their needs above all else, and that is what we need to do now."
Donald Trump:
"Congratulations to Kevin McCarthy and our GREAT Republican Party!"
Mitch McConnell:
Congratulations to Speaker McCarthy and the Republican House majority. Senate Republicans look forward to working together to check and balance Washington Democrats, bring oversight to this reckless Administration, fight the far left’s radical policies, and defend America.
