‘American Pickers’ Star Dead at 60
Reality TV fans were heartbroken this week to learn that Frank Fritz had passed away.
Fritz starred in “American Pickers,” a show that has been around since 2010.
Fritz was only 60 years old.
He’s Gone
The news was reported by the co-star Mike Wolfe.
Wolfe, on Tuesday, posted on social media, “It’s with a broken heart that I share with all of you that Frank passed away last night.
“I’ve know [sic] Frank for more then [sic] half my life and what you’ve seen on TV has always been what I have seen, a dreamer who was just as sensitive as he was funny.”
His tribute concluded, “We’ve been on countless trips and shared so many miles and I feel blessed that I was there by his side when he took one last journey home. I love you buddy and will miss you so much I know your [sic] in a better place.”
As noted above, the show premiered in 2010 and was an instant success.
The show followed Wolfe and Fritz (he left the show in 2022) traveling around the country to find collectibles and antiques for their own collections as well as for their clients.
These two would go just about anywhere to find a deal, and it fell into a niche that millions of people found interesting.
It grew right around the same time shows like “Storage Wars” were taking off, as people became fascinated with TV stars picking through other people’s discarded junk.
As noted above, Fritz left the show after it was announced that he had suffered a stroke.
In 2023, Fritz confirmed that he would not be returned to the show over concerns about his health.
Rest in peace, sir.
