American forces kill senior operative of terror group Hurras al-Din
On Jan. 30, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) conducted a precision airstrike in Northwest Syria.
The only way you couldn't call the mission a success is if you were rooting for the terrorists.
According to CENTCOM's press release, the precision airstrike targeted and killed "Muhammad Salah al-Za’bir, a senior operative in the terrorist organization Hurras al-Din (HaD), an Al-Qaeda affiliate."
The report continued:
The airstrike is part of CENTCOM’s ongoing commitment, along with partners in the region, to disrupt and degrade efforts by terrorists to plan, organize, and conduct attacks against civilians and military personnel from the U.S., our allies, and our partners throughout the region and beyond.
General Michael Erik Kurilla, commander, U.S. Central Command said, "CENTCOM will continue to hunt and kill or capture terrorists, and defend our homeland, against groups that plot to attack US and allied personnel."
According to Stripes.com, "The strike was part of U.S. forces’ ongoing efforts to disrupt terrorism in the region, especially as Syria transitions to a new government following the ouster of longtime strongman Bashar Assad."
As of December 2024, America had 2,000 troops in Syria trying to prevent a resurgence of the Islamic State group. An additional 2,500 troops were in Iraq hoping to accomplish the same goal.
The future of America's goals in Syria under President Donald Trump remains unclear.
Donald was recently asked about what his future plans for Syria are but didn't seem ready to confirm he would withdraw troops from Syria anytime soon.
"I don’t know who said that, but we’ll make a determination on that," Trump said.
"Syria is in its own mess," he added. "They’ve got enough messes over there. They don’t need us involved."
LongWarJournal.org is reporting that just the month prior, CENTCOM killed Abu Rahman al Makki, a "Hurras al-Din Shura Council member and senior leader responsible for overseeing terrorist operations from Syria."
Trump is making progress against our enemies across the globe. It doesn't matter if it's the countries ripping us off in trade, the countries allowing drugs to pour over our border, or the countries allowing terrorist activity.
Donald Trump promised to keep America safe.
So far, he's keeping that promise.
