You know that border that we have that is secure?
Well, to start FY2023, we have a new record for single-month crossings.
U.S. Customs and Border Protection revealed that more than 230,000 border crossings took place in October.
That is not just an October record for crossings, but the most crossings we have ever seen in any month in the history of this country.
All the signs were there that these numbers were going to go through the roof.
First, the weather has changed and is much cooler, which is always when the numbers start to rise.
Second, we had an election looming.
The human traffickers, cartels, and Mexican gangs probably watch those numbers more intently than we do.
With predictions of a red wave, they were jamming everyone they could across that border.
With Republicans taking over the House, I suspect we will continue to see high numbers in November and December, hopefully not as high as October.
Over the last two months, we have had more than 457,000 encounters, a pace that would obliterate the FY2022 record of 2,378,944.
The Biden administration continues to refuse to call this a crisis, with Secretary Mayorkas this week insisting that the border is secure during congressional hearings.
