One of the biggest agents in Hollywood has been forced to step away from her leadership role at Creative Artists Agency (CAA).
Maha Dakhil, whose roster includes some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, including stars like Tom Cruise, Reese Witherspoon, and Anne Hathaway, is being removed from the internal board of CAA.
However, she will continue to represent her clients, at least for now.
Should Be Fired
Dakhil posted something on social media that seems to be far too common for my liking.
In part, the story stated, “You’re learning who supports genocide.” This, of course, was in response to the Israeli counterattack after the Hamas terror attack that took place on October 7.
She also shared a photo with a note stating, “What’s more heartbreaking than witnessing genocide? Witnessing the denial that genocide is happening.”
Once the outrage ensued from her postings, Dakhil removed them and gave the obligatory apology, stating, “I made a mistake with a repost in my Instagram Story, which used hurtful language. Like so many of us, I have been reeling with heartbreak. I pride myself on being on the side of humanity and peace.
“I’m so grateful to Jewish friends and colleagues who pointed out the implications and further educated me. I immediately took the repost down. I’m sorry for the pain I have caused.”
She did not make a mistake… she posted how she truly felt thinking people would give her a slap on the back. Instead, she got called out for supporting terrorism, so now she is backtracking.
The day after she deleted the original messages and apologized, she posted, “Choice of words is important. Dialogue is healing. As each excruciating day passes, I’m listening and learning more from my friends. Thank you.
“I’m holding all our families in my prayers … I am grieving for everyone who is suffering right now. I continue to mourn all innocent lives. My mission is peace.”
This more than likely happened after she was brought into the executive offices of CAA and told she was going to be removed. In other words, she is just saving her job.
CAA responded, “CAA stands with the people of Israel, the Jewish community, and all innocent victims in the face of horrific acts of terrorism.
“For those with family, friends, or loved ones living in or connected to Israel and the region, our thoughts are with you. We wish for peace for all people. You can join us in supporting the following humanitarian organizations working to provide aid and relief resources.”
If the stars she represents had any integrity at all, they would demand she be fired or, at the very least, removed as their agent.
There is no middle ground here… we stand with Israel.
