Adam Smith Says Dems Would Rescue Mike Johnson From Ukraine Aid Consequences

Rep. Adam Smith (D-WA) just made a shocking prediction about Republican House Speaker Mike Johnson (LA)

According to Smith, “Democrats would support Johnson” in the event he faced any backlash from his party for helping facilitate aid to Ukraine.

“If we get a vote on the appropriations bills and we get a vote on the supplemental, there’ll be enough Democrats that Johnson will not be removed as Speaker. That’s just my view,” Smith said.

The issue of how much aid to provide Ukraine is becoming a hotter and hotter topic among American politicians as the dispute between Russia and Ukraine continues to drag on.

Those who support Ukraine often do so simply because of a hatred for President Vladimir Putin and because they do not want to see Russia take over Europe.

I don't want to see Russia take over Europe either.

But what these people are not telling you is that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has been very open about the fact that he's not just trying to drive out Putin, but that he is not going to stop fighting until Ukraine reclaims land currently held by Russia.

How much should America be willing to do to fight off Russia, given the fact that Ukraine is not necessarily an ally of America?

Well, some Republicans believe we shouldn't be giving any money to a war in which we aren't directly involved but should instead be using that money to address America's current border and homelessness problem.

Smith, the top Democrat on the House Armed Services Committee, is predicting that those Republicans aren't going to outweigh the influence of Democrats who will support Johnson if he decides we should keep pouring aide into a war we're not fighting when we have so many problems at home.

"Democrats would support Johnson," said Smith.

He's talking about saving Johnson from people like Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia, who has threatened to seek Johnson's ouster if he brings a Ukraine bill to the floor of Congress.
