Actor Jonathan Majors Convicted of Assaulting Ex-Girlfriend

Jonathan Majors, Marvel and "Creed III" actor, has been convicted by a jury on charges of assault and harassment related to a dispute with his former girlfriend, Grace Jabbari.

The 34-year-old actor was found guilty but acquitted on a different assault charge and aggravated harassment.

The charges originated from an altercation between Majors and Jabbari that began in the backseat of a chauffeured car and spilled into the streets of Manhattan last March. Jabbari testified about the significant pain she endured after the alleged assault in the backseat of a cab.

In response to the verdict, Priya Chaudry, Majors' spokesperson, stated that the jury did not believe Jabbari's account of the incident, as they found that Majors did not intentionally cause injuries to her.

Chaudry expressed gratitude for this aspect of the verdict but expressed disappointment that the jury still found Majors to be somehow reckless during the incident. His sentencing is scheduled for Feb. 6.

Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg emphasized the commitment to centering survivors in their work, stating that the evidence in the trial illustrated a pattern of psychological and emotional abuse.

Bragg acknowledged the jury's determination that the abuse culminated in Majors assaulting and harassing his girlfriend, thanking the jury for their service and commending the survivor for bravely telling her story despite the challenges.

Jonathan Majors faced multiple charges, including assault in the third degree, aggravated harassment in the second degree, attempted assault in the third degree, and harassment in the second degree.

The charges stemmed from a domestic dispute that led to his arrest in the Chelsea neighborhood of Manhattan. Police responded to a 911 call and determined that Majors had assaulted a 30-year-old woman.

During the trial, Jabbari provided tearful testimony, describing Majors as excessively controlling and prone to explosive rage. Security footage from the aftermath of the confrontation was presented, showing Majors allegedly "manhandling" and shoving her back into the car.

Majors' conviction brings closure to this legal chapter, with repercussions for the actor's career and personal life yet to unfold.
