ACLU Backs Trump In Gag Order Fight

Donald Trump doesn't seem to have many allies in major public institutions these days, so you know that those who do come out in favor of him are doing it because they enjoy truth and integrity, not because they're trying to do the popular thing.

The former president just picked up one of his most notable forms of support from one of the most recognized groups in America:

The ACLU.

The American Civil Liberties Union is saying that it's going to file an amicus brief arguing that the limited gag order that has recently been imposed on Trump in in his election interference case is unconstitutional.

The same day that the ACLU did that, federal prosecutors were demanding that U.S. District Judge Tanya Chutkan reinstate the currently paused order against Trump.

The government said that the order was required in order to prevent Trump from targeting and intimidating witnesses.

According to prosecutors, Trump "has a demonstrated history of using inflammatory language to target certain individuals in a way that ‘pose[s] a significant and immediate risk’" that witnesses will be intimidated.

Special Counsel Jack Smith and his team aren't really trying to find anything illegal that Trump did, it would be hard to do that when he hasn't actually been breaking the law.

Instead, they're just trying to destroy Trump's reputation and sink his electoral prospects.

That's all these cases have really ever been about.

Sure, liberals will be pleased if Trump were to end up behind bars someday, but that isn't their ultimate goal. They aren't concerned with actually achieving justice or doing whatever is right, they're simply trying to keep Trump from winning in 2024.

That might end up being a tough task, because each time liberals think they've nailed Trump, it actually leads to INCREASED support for him from voters.
