Abortions decline slightly in wake of Roe v. Wade reversal
A shocking statistic has left both pro-choice and pro-life supporters alike at a loss for words.
After overturning Roe v. Wade in 2022, abortion has only declined by 2%.
According to the new statistic released by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the total of abortions in America dropped from 622,000 in 2021 to 609,000 in 2022.
While pro-lifers are likely disheartened that the number has not dropped by far more, it just goes to show how unrealistic the concerns of the pro-choice supporters truly are.
The majority of the recorded abortions occurred before the pregnancy hit nine weeks, and of those abortions, more than 70% were done with an abortion pill as opposed to a surgical procedure.
The data revealed by the Centers for Disease Control also noted several other metrics that made news.
More than half the women who did have an abortion had given birth before.
Additionally, more than half of the abortions were given to women in their 20s.
1% of the abortions were administered to a woman pregnant at or more than 21 weeks along in her pregnancy.
At the end of the day, the pro-choice supporters have cried and cried that their rights have been taken away, but data truly indicates otherwise.
For abortion to have decreased by only 2% truly shows that nothing has happened that has stopped American women from terminating their pregnancy if they choose to do so.
On the other hand, pro-life supporters are likely devastated over the news -- to have fought so hard for unborn children and made such big legal strides only to have the statistic drop by 2% is disheartening, to say the least.
No matter which side you are on -- you have to admit that the difference in abortion numbers post-ruling is not as drastic as BOTH sides expected them to be.
Why do you think the key statistic only decreased by 2%?
