Texas Governor Greg Abbott is livid, and he has every right to be.
The federal response to the crisis at the border has been shameful, with this administration making things worse rather than better.
It has gotten to the point that Abbott has been busing migrants to sanctuary cities to bring more attention to the problem.
I'll Take Care of It
Abbott just won re-election, so he addressed the issue during his inauguration speech.
He stated, "As a result, more illegal immigrants crossed our border last year than any year in the history of the United States of America."
Abbott continued, "In fact, over the past two years, more illegal immigrants crossed our border than the populations of Austin, El Paso and Houston combined. With the Biden administration missing in action, Texas is using every tool to protect our state."
Border cities have been getting overrun, with El Paso seeing more than 2,000 per day at one point. And that is not even the busiest entry point.
So far this year, we have again seen record numbers every month, well on pace to beat last year's numbers, which were a new record.
Abbott's busing program has been successful, as New York City Mayor Eric Adams has just put up the white flag, saying that New York City is full and cannot handle any more immigrants.
Adams stated, "We have to give people accurate information, and that is what some of the centers are doing here. They are truly explaining to people that this is what's happening in New York right now.
"New York, you go there, you are going to be living in congregate settings, that there is no more room in New York. That should be coordinated by our national government, not only done locally here by those NGOs, but it should be done by our national government. That is not happening."
For the record, virtually all of the migrants that wound up in New York City were via a deal that Adams had reached with the mayor of El Paso. Less than 15 percent of them have been sent there via bus by Abbott.
