Wendy Williams lawyer fights emergency filing during hospitalization

Fans and colleagues were worried about Wendy Williams due to her conservatism and health problems recently becoming more prevalent.

Reportedly, the former Wendy Williams Show anchor was transported to the hospital after a wellness check by the New York Police Department, which caused concern, according to The Sun.

The U.S. Sun reported that her attorneys have launched an emergency petition to remove her from the nursing home, and she is now defending herself.

After Williams passed her mental exam with "flying colors," her lawyer filed the petition on March 11.

More From the Filing

In addition to calling it a "luxury prison," Williams had previously characterized the institution as "unsafe" in the complaint.

“Her guardianship attorney is filing an emergency petition today to have her moved to less restrictive alternative housing,” said a source close to Williams.

“They attempted to discharge her Monday night back to the senior facility, but Wendy and her lawyer objected,” the insider continued.

“Wendy's team told the hospital that their client has a fundamental human right to refuse to be discharged to an unsafe environment." Williams had lived at the facility for seven months.

Williams’ Conservatorship Caused Tension

More information on Williams's admission to the hospital on March 10 and the guardian's asserted attempts to have her readmitted was revealed by an insider close to the case and her lawyer.

According to the source, a confrontation took place at the hospital involving Williams, her guardian Sabrina Morrissey, and her guardian attorney.

"Wendy's team told the hospital that their client has a fundamental human right to refuse to be discharged to an unsafe environment,” the insider said.

“The guardian wanted her to be returned to the senior living facility on the locked floor, but Wendy and her attorney told the hospital she didn't want that and doesn't believe it's safe. So, the hospital kept her overnight while her attorney tries to get an alternative plan approved."

Morrissey "tried to interfere with her mental evaluation," the insider said, after they got into a "crazy" confrontation. The source, however, has not provided any further information to support the claims.
