Pope Francis continues to battle health problems
Pope Francis remained hospitalized, unable to perform many of his duties, yet he continues to rant against the bad orange man in the United States.
At 88 years old, people are now starting to talk about who will take over after Francis either passes away or retires.
One thing that seems certain, and that is that Francis’ replacement is likely to take up his quests, as 110 of the 137 cardinals who will be available to replace Francis have been promoted by the current Pope.
His Quest
I have never hidden my dislike of this particular Pope.
He rages about our immigration stance, yet a private army and walls protect his home.
As I have stated in my reports on this subject, when the Vatican City opens its gates and allows illegal immigrants to settle there, then the Pope can speak on our immigration laws. Until then, he should stay on the sidelines.
Francis’ health has been up-and-down the last few weeks while he has been hospitalized, but he has had a few good days, most of which were spent railing about Donald Trump.
Even so, the talk has started about who would replace Francis, especially since many of these cardinals have never met each other, and more than two dozen countries have a cardinal for the first time in their history.
Two of the four favorites are from Italy, being Cardinals Pietro Parolin and Matteo Zuppi. Cardinal Luis Tagle is from the Philippines, and has been dubbed “the Asian Francis.” The fourth is American Raymond Burke.
Burke has been vocally against much of Francis’ agenda, so if the conclave is sick and tired of the Pope being so political, Burke could wind up taking the pontiff’s hat.
Parolin would be the likely successor to Francis if the conclave is happy with the current direction of the church.
He is the serving Vatican Secretary of State, and easily the most visible of all cardinals on the favorite’s list.
Many Catholics have become disenfranchised with Francis in control of the church, especially when he coddled up to Joe Biden after Biden was pushing to remove restrictions on abortion.
Francis has seemingly looked the other way at Biden’s pro-abortion stance while blasting Trump for every move he makes.
It will be very interesting to see who emerges from the conclave, as it will give us a clear idea of how everyone felt about the big swing to the left under Francis.
