Report: Big interview payday could await Obamas if divorce rumors prove true

Rumors about the possible dissolution of Barack and Michelle Obama's marriage have been swirling for months, and new reports suggest that a massive payday could be in the offing if they are willing to go public with the details.

Knews.com suggests, that those in the know believe that the former first couple is already “secretly divorced” and that sums of roughly $10 million could be paid to both Barack and Michelle Obama just for agreeing to tell their story of separation.

Scrambling for the scoop

The report suggests that TV network bosses are working overtime plotting the best way to lure one or both of the Obamas for a sit-down interview once their split goes public.

According to one industry insider, “There is going to be a real rush to bag their signatures for interviews, and the figures are going to be at least $10 million, and that's each.”

The source continued, “[Barack] Obama recently picked up $1.2 million for three speeches on Wall Street so $10 million to talk about his marriage and how that was conducted within the pressure cooker of the White House doesn't seem such bad value.”

The same insider noted, “Michelle will also be offered a similar amount,” with Oprah Winfrey among the candidates identified as a frontrunner to snag that conversation.

“The interviews would be dynamite as they [would be] the first couple to split up after being president and first lady. That is a pretty big deal. The stakes are high on this one, and the networks are scrambling to make sure they are not the ones who miss out on landing the Obamas,” the source noted, according to Knews.com.

Truth to rumors?

Knews.com asserted that lawyers have long been in the process of dividing the Obamas' massive fortune, which includes a hefty real estate portfolio.

The idea is said to be that the difficult financial wrangling will all be complete and out of the way before any public announcement of a divorce is made, with an insider stating, “The last thing they want is an ugly fight with lots of nasty legal filings.”

Rumors of an impending split gained steam when Mrs. Obama chose not to attend the funeral of former President Jimmy Carter alongside her husband and again when she was absent from President Donald Trump's second inauguration, another event at which her husband was present.

Even so, the pair has posted a series of seemingly loving and committed posts on Instagram to commemorate birthdays and anniversaries, but that has not succeeded in halting the speculation that continues to plague the former occupants of 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue.

Conservative commentator Meghan McCain has gone on record with her take on the credibility of the split scuttlebutt, recently stating that she has heard the same suggestions from “reputable people...very serious journalists telling me that they're hearing that the Obama divorce rumors are true,” but whether that information -- or talk of a massive payday for the pair's personal insights -- is accurate remains something yet to be seen.
