CA Governor Gavin Newsom flips on key Democrat narrative
If we needed more proof that Gavin Newsom is setting himself up for a run to the White House in 2028, we just got it.
Newsom has been paying attention to how the country feels about transgenders in women’s sports.
He just abandoned the party line, saying now that he believes it is unfair for biological women to compete against transgenders in athletics.
Not Fair
Newsom has been locked into the LGTBQ+ movement for some time, even defying state laws at one point to issue a marriage license to a same-sex couple.
During his personal podcast debut, Newsom addressed the issue, stating, “I think it’s an issue of fairness, I completely agree with you on that. It is an issue of fairness — it’s deeply unfair.
“I am not wrestling with the fairness issue. I totally agree with you.”
Newsom also took a shot at Kamala Harris for not responding to the attacks that she wanted to use taxpayer money to fund transition surgery for illegal immigrants and federal prisoners.
He stated, “She didn’t even react to it, which was even more devastating.
“Then you had the video [of Harris] as a validator. Brutal. It was a great ad.”
Newsom was talking to conservative personality Charlie Kirk, who challenged Newsom on AB Hernandez, a transgender athlete who broke the local record by something like eight feet.
Newsom responded, “I revere sports, so the issue of fairness is completely legit.
“And I saw that — the last couple years, boy did I [see] how you guys were able to weaponize that issue at another level.”
I would not call it weaponizing, but would describe it is a quest to do what is right to preserve the integrity and safety of women’s sports.
This is a major issue in this country right now, as trans athletes are popping up all over the place, just destroying the biological women they are competing against.
In many cases, these were middling male athletes who are now dominating their competition.
I have suggested eliminating single sex sports if we are going to allow transgenders to compete in women’s sports. If that is the case, why even separate sports by gender, right?
The immediate pushback I get from liberals is that would crush women’s sports, more or less negating them in terms of being successful. At which point, I smile, and say, “Then why are you okay with a man who identifies as a woman playing in women’s sports? What is the difference there or just eliminating gender-based categories altogether?”
As you may suspect, the answer I get is usually the sounds of crickets in the background.
